    White Breasted Nuthatch Side

    Male White Breasted Nuthatch- Sitta carolinensis
    Male White Breasted Nuthatch- Sitta carolinensis, Order PASSERIFORMES - Family SITTIDAE, the nuthatches. Small, stout tree climbers with strong, woodpecker like bills, strong feet. Can be seen going down trees headfirst. This species has an easily recognizable black cap and jet black eye on a white face. Year long resident. This beauty was spotted in the woods behind Mark McPhail's house in Oxford in the early evening. (Photo: April 7, 2004, Canon 10D, EF 400mm f/5.6L IS USM)
