Sunny Day Tundra Swan
Tundra Swan-Cygnus columbianus
| Tundra Swan, Cygnus columbianus, Order Anseriformes-Family Anatidae. Today was a beautiful day--the sun was shining in a "milky haze" sort of way, but, heck, it's February! Another Life and photo-first for me!These birds were at the extreme northern end of Brookville Reservoir in SE Indiana near the Ohio border. About 20 individuals were clustered in an ice-free area just north of the Dunlapsville causeway. There were countless numbers of Canada Geese south of the Causeway. "Tundra Swans breed on the high tundra across the top of North America."
