Song Sparrow Habitat Song Sparrow Habitat- Melospiza melodia Song Sparrow, Melospiza melodia, Family EMBERIZIDAE. Readily recognized by its streaked breast and large, central spot. All year resident. I can say with "authority" that they are terrific singers! This beauty was singing in a Willow Tree in Shaker Trace Wetlands, Miami Whitewater Forest area in SW Ohio.
