Puffed Horned Lark
Horned Lark- Eremophila alpestris
| Horned Lark- Eremophila alpestris, Order Passerfiformes, Family Alaudidae. A life photo-first for me. These beautiful birds were behind the grain elevators in a farmers field just east of College Corner, Indiana. The skies were clear and the temperature was a frigid 13 degrees! I was shooting into the glaring morning sun! "The only true lark native to North America. Breed across North America from Alaska and the Canadian arctic to northern Georgia, Lousiana and Mexico. Winters from southern Canada southward."
