    Mute Swan Landing

    Mute Swan- Cygnus olor
Mute Swan- Cygnus olor, Family Anatidae, Subfamily Anserinae. A life first for me! This huge bird, often referred to as a "White Swan," came cruising in for a landing on this early May beautiful day. It was amazing! Some Mute Swans have been known to have a wingspan of 8 feet! Mute Swans were introduced from Europe and now thrive in North America. Birds were quite active in the early morning at the Gilmore Pond Conservancy in Hamilton Ohio.
