    Male Grackles Jousting

    Common Male Grackles- Quiscalus quiscula
    Common Grackle-Quiscalus quiscula, Order PASSERIFORMES - Family ICTERIDAE. Grackles are year-long residents of Ohio. These beautiful males were joousting with one another for territory. These Grackles were found in Heuston Woods in early May near the north end of the lake in the surrounding wetlands.

    "A very abundant bird that has benefited from human activities. Has yellow eyes. Recognized by its iridescent purple and bronze plumage and long, keel-shaped tail."
