Male Chipping Sparrow "Frontal"
Male Chipping Sparrow- Spizella passerina
| Male Chipping Sparrow- Spizella passerina, Order PASSERIFORMES - Family EMBERIZIDAE. This beauty was singing up a storm in front of Boyd Hall at Miami University in the mid-afternoon. In fact, these sparrows seemed to be evrywhere setting up territories. "A common small sparrow of yards, gardens, and forest openings, the Chipping Sparrow is probably best known for its dry, trilling song. One of the smallest sparrows, it commonly nests in ornamental evergreens." (Photo: April 16, 2004, Canon 10D, EF 300mm f/4.0L IS USM, 1.4x teleconverter EF ll lens )
