Male Ruby-throated Hummingbird- Archilochus colubris
| Male Ruby-throated Hummingbird- Archilochus colubris, Order Apodiformes-Family Trochilidae-Subfamily Trochilinae. Here a Male Ruby-throated Hummingbird is caught hovering. After setting up an array of hummingbird feeders in our rural Oxford, Ohio backyard, each August and early September day we get to witness the interactions of many hummers drinking, resting and frantically chasing one another. It's been fantastic!
These hummers are the only hummingbird that breeds in eastern North America. They winter in Central America!
