    Front Downy Woodpecker

    Downy Woodpecker- Picoides pubescens
    Downy Woodpecker, Picoides pubescens, Family Picidae. Here is a dorsal view of the black and white feather patterns. Note the small bill. This is a female--the male has a red half collar. Found in the woods behind my house in Hamilton, Ohio.
