TROPIC and NEAR-TROPIC BIRD COLLECTION

Common Yellowthroat Closeup Male Common Yellowthroat - Geothlypis trichas Male Common Yellowthroat, Geothlypis trichas, Order PASSERIFORMES - Family PARULIDAE. My first confirmed warbler sightings this spring. This warbler was found on a very wonderful late-April day in Shaker Trace Wetlands in the Miami Whitewater Forest area in SW Ohio. Wow! Its "wich-i-ty, wich-i-ty, wich-i-ty" can be heard from the Yukon to Newfoundland, and from southern Florida to southern Mexico.     As a small bird, the Common Yellowthroat is vulnerable to a large number of bird-eating predators, such as Merlins and Loggerhead Shrikes."
